With the addition of 4 new scholarship recipients for the 2019-2020 school year, HTIL bequeathed stipends and back to school supplies to 17 scholars.
The 17 scholars included Academic Awardees: 2019 first time awardees (Shaneka Roberts, Anthony Marriot, Haley Lyons, Tachina Gayle); from 2018 (Okere Bremmer, Jada Kerr, Jada Finlatter and Dauntay Haughton); from 2017 (Amuiki Beckford, Wantonia Lyons, Rhamone Lewis, Daniela Bucknor); from 2016 (Romique Leslie, Khaleil Lewis, Simonique Simpson, Jaheim Gordon); andSoccer Awardee: Darnel Brissett (2018)
The back to school supplies included a backpack, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, calculators, geometry sets, USB drives. Additionally, HTIL procured 5 laptops to be shared among the recipients.
The official event held Dec 29 and was hosted at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and organized by HTIL scholarship coordinator Mrs. Margaret Harwood-Farquharson; the keynote speaker was HTIL’s president, Mr. Robbie Hemmings. He, along with his high school colleague Mr. Francois Lawrence (who is representing the graduating class of 1991 as a sponsor for the soccer award), did the presentation.
Without the consideration and kindness of the donors, HTIL wouldn’t have realized its mission; subsequently, the organization expresses the sincerest of gratitude and commendation for their noteworthy support.
